This is the story of our adventures -- every day and extraordinary; our dreams -- tiny and grand; our gardens -- ornamental and sustaining; this is the story of our journey.  We are a family of four living a mindful, simple life here in Los Angeles County.  We are green, conscious, and forward thinking.  We keep an eye on the past because some of the best things have already been done and bear repeating.  Walk and talk with us, have a glass of wine, taste a peach or a tomato, blow some bubbles and watch them drift up over the canyon ridge.  Enjoy!

Garden Update -- Spring Equinox

Broccoli, carrots, and onions in the long bed:

The peach, pear, apple, pomegranate, and fig trees:

The potato box:

Pole peas, peas and mint (would make a nice soup!), and bush peas:

Shallots and arugula:

Lettuce in the terraced bed and in a rolling deck bed -- under row covers because otherwise something eats it all!

Garlic in a rolling deck bed:

You can check out the progress a month makes by looking at last month's beds here :

And bonus points if you find the cat twice!  He always follows me when I check on the gardens!

I am looking forward to getting my 4x4 garden built. It'll be in the middle of my backyard when we finally get to that point.

I snipped off some of our garlic greens tonight, chopped them, and added them to potstickers - GREAT flavor!

Oooh, what a great idea!

We are getting green onions and green garlic at the farmers market these days. Green garlic is such a joy. No paper skins to peel!
