This is the story of our adventures -- every day and extraordinary; our dreams -- tiny and grand; our gardens -- ornamental and sustaining; this is the story of our journey.  We are a family of four living a mindful, simple life here in Los Angeles County.  We are green, conscious, and forward thinking.  We keep an eye on the past because some of the best things have already been done and bear repeating.  Walk and talk with us, have a glass of wine, taste a peach or a tomato, blow some bubbles and watch them drift up over the canyon ridge.  Enjoy!

Garden Prattle

I think I warned you that once I got back to Topanga all you would read about would be the garden.  Well...

The oak leaf hydrangeas are thriving!  These look like they have taken steroids!

The fig tree looks healthy and hearty but has no fruit, yet.
Our potato seeds haven't arrived.  I was worried we'd have no crop this year.  Well, hmm...
The pumpkins are coming along but the peas seem pathetic.

PEACHES!!!!!!

There are actually so many on the little tree that some of the little fuzzy balls are falling off.  Makes me sad but I know the tree can't support all the fruit it made.  We'll still have plenty!

The grapes look GRRRReat!  I'm searching out recipes for stuffing the leaves -- let me know if you know...

My first tomatoes!   I was so excited to see these on the vine as I was pruning and stringing up.

And we had a beautiful visitor today!  Alex yelled excitedly when she saw him/her.

The best part of gardening is sharing it with the Bubbles!
I have an idea!

OOOH!

No, don't think that's gonna work.

The tomato plants are now all pruned and strung -- they don't look happy but I'll photograph them again in a week -- they will rebound and we will all be better off for it!  Hehe.   More tomatoes, easier to harvest, all kindsa better.

The last gardening I did today was to pick some arugula sprouts for dinner.  I had to thin out this dense patch.
So I pulled a colander full.
And now the patch looks like this:
Hmmm....

Oh it all looks soooo great! The arugula looks super tasty and you could probably pull out even more! I can't wait to start getting my tomatoes in! My plants are growing like crazy! They were so little when I put them in and they are huge now! My pea sprouts are doing great! I got 9 plants out of the seeds I planted. Anyhow, I guess I should do my own blog post on my tiny little garden. :)

I can't wait to see yours this weekend! And the girls are so cute! I LOVE the faces!
