This is the story of our adventures -- every day and extraordinary; our dreams -- tiny and grand; our gardens -- ornamental and sustaining; this is the story of our journey.  We are a family of four living a mindful, simple life here in Los Angeles County.  We are green, conscious, and forward thinking.  We keep an eye on the past because some of the best things have already been done and bear repeating.  Walk and talk with us, have a glass of wine, taste a peach or a tomato, blow some bubbles and watch them drift up over the canyon ridge.  Enjoy!

This random life

Today has been a long, busy day.  I am tired and sore and have been cranky with my girls and my Gregg this evening.  Now the house is quiet and they are all asleep and I can step back and appreciate how much I love them and our random life.  These photos (mostly taken by Alex -- of course not those in which she appears!) capture the beauty, the busy, the bounty we have.

Today was "playhouse clean up day" and the girls really put in the effort!  I was proud of them!

And then there is just this:

ETA: Given that recent BHG article suggesting that we nurse our children in the bathroom at upscale restaurants, I am tempted to delete the photo that features that magazine. I won't only because it is a photo taken by Alex and I like the "art" of it. But know, dear readers, I was deeply offended by that article!

I was just saying how endearing the quiet of the night is! I love to be still and listen to my children breathe. Sometimes it takes creating a moment (or taking one!) to sit back and appreciate our lives. Cheers to that my friend! Beautiful.

Love that boa! I'm just not that mom, I like my son clothed... maybe the difference between boys and girls, if "it's" out "it" become a toy. LOL

Love it!! I find that it's moments of peace that I realize how lucky I am.

The last pic is just so stinkin awesome. Jaimey, Liam runs around nekkid all the time. It's only around random people that I care if he's clothed. Though, the main reason I do enforce undies more recently is so that it's just kind of painful to see how far he can stretch that thing!! He practically ties it in knots!

Love it all! And ditto your BHG sentiments!
