This is the story of our adventures -- every day and extraordinary; our dreams -- tiny and grand; our gardens -- ornamental and sustaining; this is the story of our journey.  We are a family of four living a mindful, simple life here in Los Angeles County.  We are green, conscious, and forward thinking.  We keep an eye on the past because some of the best things have already been done and bear repeating.  Walk and talk with us, have a glass of wine, taste a peach or a tomato, blow some bubbles and watch them drift up over the canyon ridge.  Enjoy!

Caterpillar Conundrums

This morning Gregorie and I found this caterpillar in the bedroom.  He/she must have fallen out of the live oaks onto the deck and then just crawled right in.  I suggested that we put him (okay, "it" bugs me, and since I don't know the caterpillar's gender, I'm going "neutral" with the "masculine") in a home to see his metamorphosis but that prompted her to demand to know what he would become.  She got the Field Guide.  I searched online.  We found no blue and orange, spikey haired caterpillars living in CA.  So we snapped a few pics and sent them off to some butterfly/moth experts.   Haven't heard back yet.

I know, lots of pics of this little dude, but look how fun he is!
Next, Gregorie just played her silly self.

Until she founds another caterpillar, in the peas!
I need to send his picture in too, because he's also not in the book.
But check out my peaches.
My blackberries.

My apples.

Oh, and my lunch!!!!!

Love it! We have those guys all over our yard, too. On Sunday after playing with a little one on the table we noticed a huge on walking along our friend's collar about to cross over to his face. Our friend didn't appreciate us all going "oh my gosh!!! Look at that huge one!!" when he didn't realize what we were talking about. lol. Let me know what he'll turn into! I'll do my own research too! We have these other black and red or orange fuzzy ones and those turn into a cloak butterfly.
